Education Substitutes
Education Substitutes assist students who are blind/visually impaired with instructional tasks in classroom. Substitutes are on an “as-needed” and “on-call” basis.
Drivers/Caregivers, Part-time
Drivers/Caregivers with background/experience in transporting or working with children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities is preferred. Required to assist with self-help routines with students. Driving will include local and statewide travel as well as occasional out of state travel. CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement preferred but not required. Good driving record required. These are 9-month part-time positions with extended runs on Fridays and Sundays, with some short runs during weekdays. Applications accepted until filled.
Lifeguards
New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking applications for Lifeguards. Duties include: PE swimming classes, recreation program and may include other outside scheduled activities. Successful candidate must possess current lifeguard certification or be willing to acquire. This is a 9 month substitute position usually scheduled Tuesday and Thursday with approximately 10 to 12 hours per week. Applications will be accepted until filled.
Speech Therapist
New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking application for a Speech Therapist. The speech language therapist is responsible for all diagnostic services which include diagnosis of speech, language, and voice disorders and for implementation of therapeutic measures to students with visual impairments. BS degree or higher in Speech Therapy, eligible for New Mexico PED licensure is required. Background/experience in teaching students with visual/multiple impairments preferred. Registered Nurse
The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting for an RN. This individual will plan and implement health care services to visually and/or multiply impaired students. The ability to demonstrate current knowledge in professional issues in school nursing, school and community health, communicable disease control, health assessment, acute and chronic health conditions, injury prevention and emergency care, student issues, and legal/ethical health policies. New Mexico Board of Nursing Multistate Compact Licensure is required and must be eligible for certification from the New Mexico Public Education Department. This is a full-time position from 12 pm - 8 pm. Work schedule is Sunday –Thursday. Position for the 2022-2023 school year. Applications accepted until filled.

Required to provide services for young children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities. Experience in both early childhood and blindness and/or experience working with alternative communication systems is preferred. Speech Language Therapist must be eligible for New Mexico PED licensure. Speech Language Clinical Fellow will be considered. Position for the 2022-2023 school year.
