Alamogordo, Residential Campus Opportunities

Security Guard

The campus Security Guard will safeguard NMSBVI property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing duties including but not limited to:  patrolling NMSBVI grounds and buildings, assisting and providing direct support to staff and students on grounds to and from NMSBVI buildings and campus locations, reporting suspicious persons on grounds and maintaining security logs and reports.  This is a graveyard shift position with hours from 12:30 AM to 8:30 AM, Sunday thru Thursday. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Nurse

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting for an RN.  This individual will plan and implement health care services to visually and/or multiply impaired students.  The ability to demonstrate current knowledge in professional issues in school nursing, school and community health, communicable disease control, health assessment, acute and chronic health conditions, injury prevention and emergency care, student issues, and legal/ethical health policies.  New Mexico Board of Nursing Multistate Compact Licensure is required and must be eligible for certification from the New Mexico Public Education Department.  This is a full-time, 9 month position from 12 noon - 8 pm.  Work schedule is Sunday - Thursday.  Applications accepted until filled.

 

Education Assistant

Performs instructional tasks in classroom to assist licensed teaching staff.  High School diploma/GED and NM Public Education Department Level 3 licensure will be required.  Background/experience in working with visual/multiply-impaired students is preferred.  Full-time position will be required to become Braille proficient.  Full-time, 9-month position for the 2022-2023 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.

Health Services Manager 

Position is for the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Alamogordo, New Mexico.  Administers, plans, and supervises nursing services to all visually and/or multiply impaired students including carrying a student caseload, screening, assessment, evaluation, intervention, and referrals to physician or other health care providers.  Initiates and supervises the development and maintenance of department policies and required student and staff health training requirements.  A Master’s degree in Nursing or in a health related field, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in nursing with 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position, is required.  Nurse Practitioners are welcome to apply.  NM Board of Nursing License and licensure through the NM Public Education Department are required.  Required to become Braille proficient.  Full‑time, 12 month position.  Applications accepted until filled.

Education Substitutes

Education Substitutes assist students who are blind/visually impaired with instructional tasks in classroom.  Substitutes are on an “as-needed” and “on-call” basis.

Drivers/Caregivers, Part-time

Drivers/Caregivers with background/experience in transporting or working with children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities is preferred.  Required to assist with self-help routines with students.  Driving will include local and statewide travel as well as occasional out of state travel. CDL with school bus and passenger endorsement preferred but not required.  Good driving record required.  These are 9-month part-time positions with extended runs on Fridays and Sundays, with some short runs during weekdays.  Applications accepted until filled.

Lifeguards

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking applications for Lifeguards.  Duties include: PE swimming classes, recreation program and may include other outside scheduled activities.  Successful candidate must possess current lifeguard certification or be willing to acquire.  This is a 9 month substitute position usually scheduled Tuesday and Thursday with approximately 10 to 12 hours per week.  Applications will be accepted until filled. 

Speech Therapist 

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is seeking application for a Speech Therapist.  The speech language therapist is responsible for all diagnostic services which include diagnosis of speech, language, and voice disorders and for implementation of therapeutic measures to students with visual impairments.  BS degree or higher in Speech Therapy, eligible for New Mexico PED licensure is required.  Background/experience in teaching students with visual/multiple impairments preferred.  Applications accepted until filled.

Albuquerque, Early Childhood Campus Opportunities

Administrative Assistant

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is recruiting for a twelve (12) month, full-time Administrative Assistant.  This individual is required to provide administrative and clerical support to the Early Childhood Program, to include human resource and business operations support.  Responsible for coordinating activities with other departments at NMSBVI, schools and agencies that are served by the ECP.  Will review incoming reports and other data and sets priorities to expedite workflow.  Is responsible for maintaining multiple files and databases and typing of routine and confidential correspondence.  Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training.  Applications accepted until filled.

 

ECP Custodian/Housekeeper

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is seeking a qualified individual for a building custodian/housekeeper.  Duties include but are not limited to: keeping the inside premises of NMSBVI buildings in clean and orderly condition to include performing housekeeping and minor maintenance functions in buildings as required.  Successful candidate must possess a strong work ethic and be detailed-oriented.  Prior housekeeping, cleaning and varied floor experience preferred.  This is a full time, 12 month position. 

Substitute Teacher

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is seeking Substitute Teachers.  Substitutes work in the classroom with students and support instructional learning.  Substitutes are on an “as-needed” and “on-call” basis.  Looking for someone to fill the position for the 2022-2023 school year. 

 

Driver/Caregiver, Substitute

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is recruiting for a substitute Driver/Caregiver. Background/experience in transporting or working with children with visual impairments and/or multiple disabilities is preferred. Required to assist with self-help routines with students. Driving will include routes to Gallup and Farmington on weekends. Good driving record required. This is a 9 month substitute position with extended runs on Fridays and Sundays and occasional Mondays. Registered Nurse Substitute

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Early Childhood Program is currently recruiting for a RN Substitute, in Albuquerque.  This position will provide health care services to visually and/or multiply impaired students in an educational pre-school setting.  New Mexico Board of Nursing Licensure is required, and eligibility for NM Public Education Department licensure; minimum of two years experience, preferably in pediatrics.  9 month contract.  Applications accepted until filled.
